The Logosol Timberjig

The Timberjig from Logosol is a vital ingredient in the Big Mill System, but not only that.  Attached to a suitable chainsaw the Timberjig becomes a functional sawmill in its own right.

The Timberjig is suitable for logs up to 50 cm (20”) in diameter, but in practice there is no limit to what size or shape of logs you can saw. Most chainsaws with two bar bolts are compatible with the Timberjig and Big Mill System.
You can produce your own planks and boards by first sawing a block and then cutting it into the desired dimensions. The precision usually lies within plus or minus a couple of millimetres at the start, but practice makes perfect. The more you saw the better the precision will be.

Pay-back time for a Timberjig could be as short as a couple of hours or so.  Just get hold of a good log and get milling!

MY FIRST SAWMILL: Logosol Timberjig
In a "Product Review" in Agroforestry news Rowan Read, who is the National Manager of Australia Master TreeGrowers Program and Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Land and Food resources, University of Melbourne,  writes "I wouldn't normally consider myself competent enough to test equipment on behalf of my fellow tree growers.   However this simple  chainsaw jig from Sweden doesn't assume a great deal of technical competence in either milling or machines - just enthusiasm.  In that respect I'm probably the ideal preson to try it out."
Later in the article, which offers a comprehensive review of the features and qualities of the Timberjig, he continues "At the price, the timberjig is the sort of tool you can take out when collecting firewood just in case you come across a log with a beautiful colour of fiddleback grain.  For owner builders it would be ideal for squaring off beams and lintels. The Timberjig might be your first sawmill but I dont expect you will throw it out if you get a real one."
